On Thursday, 45 people accused of transnational telecommunications fraud were repatriated from Indonesia to Beijing. They’re part of 828 suspects who have been apprehended, suspected of stealing a total of around $34 million in over 1,800 cases.

According to a statement released by China’s Ministry of Public Security, police cracked two large transnational telecom fraud groups on Wednesday. The bust was a joint effort from police in China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore.

根據中國公安部發表的一份聲明，警方於周三，破獲了兩個大型的跨國電信詐騙集團。這次逮捕是由中國、台灣、印尼、柬埔寨、菲律賓、越南、泰國、寮國、馬來西亞和新加坡警方共同的努力。

Chinese police explain how telecommunications fraud is typically committed.

[Huang Zuyue, Criminal Investigation Bureau]:

"The suspects use this script to fake roles such as administrators, judges or police officers. In calls to victims, they try to cheat victims by making them believe they are involved in money laundering, drug trafficking or other criminal cases and then swindle large sum of the victims' money and property."

刑事偵查局黃祖躍說：

「嫌疑用假扮如管理者、法官或警官的劇本。與受害者的通話中，試圖欺騙他們，使他們相信自己涉及洗錢、販毒或其它刑事案件，然後詐取受害者大筆金錢或財產。」

Networks are set up across the countries to cheat people of their money, and the majority of victims were Mainlanders and Taiwanese.

The investigation is still underway and police continue to pursue suspects.

調查仍在進行中，警方持續追補嫌犯。
