Woeser: Tibetans, Cease Self-Immolation

Tibetan self-immolation protesting Chinese Communist

Party (CCP) rule has continued to take place for some time.

The events became the world's lasting focus of attention.

The CCP Two Sessions gave witness to three

more self-immolations.

March 7: A renowned Tibetan female writer, Woeser,

joined two other Tibetans wrote an appeal online.

The appeal was written in three languages:

Chinese, Tibetan and English.

It was entitled “Appeal to Tibetans To Cease

Self-Immolation: Cherish Your Life in a Time of Oppression."

A lot of netizens signed online to give support to the call.

In contrast, the CCP chairman of Tibet Autonomous Region,

Pema Akabayashi, openly lied on the same day,

Pema said to the Chinese and foreign media reporters:

"No self-immolations have taken place in Tibet

at the moment. The situation (here) is very stable

on the whole."

March 8: The CCP's National People's Congress (NPC) began

discussing the draft amendment to Criminal Procedure Law.

The article said crimes of “State security threatening can

be a secret arrest”, causing law societies

to be strongly against it.

In the end, the CCP NPC deleted this article and claimed that

now police will inform the family of arrested within 24 hours.

However, in the future, whether the CCP will follow this rule

or not is a big question.

The "reeducation through labor" system was another target

of opposition.

March 6: Ni Wenhua, Sun Wenguang and 18 other rights

activists appealed to the CCP's Congress.

They sought cancellation of the "reeducation through

forced labor" system.

The appeal stated the system arbitrarily deprives citizens'

right to personal liberty, without going through any legal procedure.

It terrifies the right-defenders, petitioners and dissidents.

The appeal also said the victims often found themselves

with no way to voice their grievances.

March 7: A mainland Chinese male tourist attempted to

jump from a hotel in Taibei.

He shouted, "I don't want to go back, I hate the CCP.”

The man was later rescued by the police.

Taiwan's Apple Daily reported that the man had brought

a handwritten 50-page statement along with him to Taiwan.

He had tried to contact The Liberty Times

and United Daily News to expose " the evil CCP".

Eventually, the male tourist failed and

was repatriated to China.
