【新唐人亞太台 2017 年 12 月 30 日訊】Green technology and environmental friendly science is a topic that garners much attention in the modern era. Ten years ago, JW Eco-Technology, an invention by a Taiwanese scientist, made possible what is now known as JW breathing ecological road. Since then, eco-pavement has won international recognitions on many occasions. This year, the pavement garnered top honor, Global Road Achievement Award, at the annual competition held by the International Road Federation. 

It looks like a normal garden. But underneath it is a revolutionary ecological technology. JW Eco-Technology, invented by Chen Jui-Wen, uses pipes to generate pressure difference, allowing air to circulate automatically above and below the pavement, making possible what is breathing ecological road. 

Chen Jui-Wen, inventor of JW Eco-Technology: “The pavement itself acts like an air purifier. Heavier particles, like pollutants, such as carbon dioxide and PM2.5 particles, stay closer to the ground. So JW Eco-Technology allows absorption of these particles into the ground, allowing microorganisms to disintegrate and turn them into organic carbon.” 

This Eco-Technology is miraculous. For example, in terms of water permeability, it can take up to 200 millimeter of water in one minute, a capacity that is equivalent to 20 detention basins the size of Dahu Park. It can also absorb carbon dioxide to alleviate urban heat island phenomenon. The temperature of eco-pavement surface can be 21 degrees Celsius lower than that measured on asphalt roads. And it is sustainable with a lifespan of at least 10 years. The technology, having won international recognizations many times over the years, picked up three more awards this year, with the top honor, Global Road Achievement Award at the annual competition held by the International Road Federation (IRF), and two gold medals and one exceptional award at the iENA International Trade Fair in Nuremberg, Germany. 

Chen Jui-Wen, inventor of JW Eco-Technology: “JW Eco-Technology has been awarded a patent. So in Taiwan, the technology can be used after proper authorization. In the United States, China, and Africa, the technology has slowly been recognized for its importance. In America, the technology has been put into use with great results.” 

Liu,Feng-Shou , Former deputy chief engineer at Water Resources Agency, MOEA : “It can save much electricity. And it can also save much water. The use of water is tied to this technology. Architects, engineering consulting firms, construction companies, and the government must all work together to put this technology into use. So we are calling on the government to greatly promote it.” 

This technology has been one of the topics of discussion at the annual UN Climate Change Conference for three straight years. And it has been widely recognized as the key technology to alleviate global warming. JW Eco-Technology can eliminate three harms to the environment, such as environmental pollution, flood and drought, and urban heat island, making possible sustainable development of green economy.
