Taiwan’s top China negotiator, Chiang Pin-kung, has announced that the island will sign a nuclear-power security cooperation agreement with the Chinese regime.

台灣高階與中國談判者江炳坤宣布，台灣將與中國政權簽訂核能安全合作協定。

He says the agreement will put a framework in place for the two sides to inform each other of hazardous situations at nuclear power plants.

他說，這項協定將會在適當的地方設立架構，當核能電廠處於危急情況時，兩岸會互相通知。

The agreement can be seen as another step in the Mainland-friendly policy of President Ma Ying-jeou to increase ties between the two sides.

這項協議可能被視為馬英九總統對中國大陸友好政策的另一項步驟，以促進兩岸關係。

Mainland China and Taiwan split in 1949, when communist forces conquered the Mainland.

當共產黨軍隊征服大陸後，中國大陸與台灣在1949年分裂。
