China's Spring Festival travel season began on Sunday, pushing the limits of the country's public transport system.

中國的春運從本周日開始，將其公共運輸系統推到極限。

Hundreds of millions of people working and studying away from their hometowns are returning home to reunite with family members.

好幾億遠離家鄉工作和求學的人們，將要返回家鄉與親人團聚。

The rush began 15 days ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year, and is expected to last until the middle of February.

返鄉交通的高峰從農曆春節前的15天開始，預計持續到二月中旬。

Nearly 3.2 billion passenger trips are expected during this year's Spring Festival season, a nine percent increase over last year. Given that China's population is around 1.3 billion, these numbers indicate that nearly everyone in the country will travel twice.

春節期間大約有近32億人次的客流，比去年增加了9%。中國現有約13億人口，這些數字顯示，幾乎每個人會出行2次。

It is estimated that around 2.8 billion trips will be made by bus, which accounts for roughly 90 percent of the total number of passenger trips.

據估計，約28億旅次是由巴士運載，佔了整個客運數量的90%。

To cope with the rising demand, 840 thousand buses are now running on roads, with over 2.6 million departures every day.

為了應付不斷上升的客流，84萬輛巴士上路運行，每天發車260多萬次。

One of Beijing's biggest transportation hubs, the Liuliqiao Long Distance Bus Station, is already experiencing a huge transportation rush.

北京最大的長途巴士站之一六裡橋站，已經出現巨大的運輸潮。

[Tian Fan, Liuliqiao Long Distance Bus Station]:

"Ten thousand passengers departed from this station on Sunday alone."

六裡橋長途巴士站的田方說：「星期天一天就有上萬名旅客從這裏出發。」

The station expects over 20 thousand passengers a day, as it gets closer to Lunar New Year's Eve, just 15 days away.

預計農曆新年除夕前的15日，每天都會有2萬多名旅客湧向車站。
